What does sponsorship entail/require of the congregation before the event?
What does sponsorship entail/require of the congregation on the day of the event?
Brief description of how the event aligns with Jewish values?
I understand that if the event occurs at the same time as Shabbat services, some type of Shabbat prayer service that honors the intent of Shabbat must be built in.

I understand that any secular event sponsored by CJC must be associated with teachings from our Tradition. The CJC sponsor in collaboration with the Chair of Religious Practices and CJC clergy, will determine the best approach and timing for congregational education on the event (i.e. a drash, a blog entry on the website, a lunch and learn).

How a request will be considered
Decisions regarding a request for a waiver of this Shabbat and Hag policies to allow participation as a CJC community in a secular activity on Shabbat, will be made by a subcommittee of the Religious Practices Committee, which will include the Chair of the Religious Practices Committee, and CJC President.
Unless the event is emergent and scheduled on short notice, the request from the CJC Sponsor should come to the
Religious Practices Committee Chair
at least 6 weeks prior to the event. Requests presented on short-notice will be considered on an expedited case-by-case basis.
Responses will be provided within ten days or sooner if necessary.
Please note
CJC will not sponsor activities requiring exchange of money on Shabbat.
